Fall into Nature
Saturday October 8, 2022
11:00am - 3:00pm
Fresh eyes on an old world! Young children see our planet from a different perspective than their parents or grandparents. Experience the excitement with them that comes from a new encounter with the environment. Fall into Nature, a celebration of autumn, will be held at the Bath Nature Preserve, 4160 Ira Road on Saturday, October 8 from 11:00AM-3:00PM, rain or shine.
This free, family-friendly event is sponsored by the University of Akron Field Station, Bath Park Board and Bath Township. It features community organizations providing fun for the young and old. Children can choose a pumpkin to decorate, have their face painted and build a scarecrow to take home. There will be a fire engine on display and a police exhibit. A hayride through the Bath Nature Preserve is always an enjoyable trip.
Hands-on exhibits will provide a learning experience and inspire young people to respect the great outdoors. Dr. Lara Roketenetz, the University of Akron Field Station manager, has several special activities planned including the Outdoor Classroom, the Exploration Station and the Animal Olympics. Other exhibits include observing an active bee hive, experimenting with an enviroscape, and identifying where you live in relation to the streams in Bath.
The book mobile and a Storywalk™, created especially for this event, will be sponsored by the library.
Another option for the energetic explorer is the Discovery Walk along the trails throughout the Bath Nature Preserve which will feature 36 posters describing flora and fauna found on the 411-acre property. This display will be available through the month of October.
Weather permitting, visitors will be able to view the sun through the sun scope at the celestial observatory.
