BATH FIRE DEPARTMENTEXPLORER POST 2542The Explorer Post chartered by the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by Bath Fire Department had a very successful year in 1998. The Post continued to train and educate with meetings twice a month. Some trainings included pump procedures, EMS, water shuttle, and joint training with the Fire Department at the training houses on Cleve-Mass. Road. The highlight of 1998 was our participation in The National Exploring Conference held in Washington D. C. This event, held every two years, brings together Explorer Posts from across the country for education and competition. Our post last went to a National Conference in 1988 in Boston, Massachusetts. At that conference we took two 2nd place trophies and a 3rd place overall in competition among fire and rescue posts. This past year, competing against 12 other Fire and Rescue Posts including posts from Alaska, Florida, and Colorado, we ended up with two 1st place trophies out of four events. The explorers trained hard for this competition and their hard work paid off. Other highlights of 1998 were Steve Kamp, President receiving an award for the "Outstanding Explorer" of Post 2542 and the presentation of the "Associate Advisor of the Year" award. One of the goals of Explorer Post 2542 is to train young people to become Firefighters and EMT's in their community and on January 1, 1999, Mike and Steve Kamp officially joined Bath Fire Department. We offer congratulations and wish them the best of luck. Post Advisor, Tom Kamp Education, Personnel, Equipment, Explorer Post, Inspection, BFD Inc., Horse Show, Training, Services, Special Ops
